Winter Warmer Walks #2

Winter Warmer Walks are an opportunity for Central Goldfields residents to get out in the air and reconnect with their town and each other.

Each 90 min walk will start and finish at the local Neighbourhood Centres and Community Houses and will be run under careful Covid Safe practises.

  • Mill House, (formerly GELC)
  • Maryborough Community House
  • Dunolly Neighbourhood Centre

Afterwards there will be some light refreshments and time for a catch up and chat with others from the walk.

The walks are being presented by the Central Goldfields Shire and the Neighbourhood Centres and Community Houses under the State Government CASI initiative to re-connect communities emerging from Covid 19 pandemic.

WALK SCHEDULE: 

Maryborough Community House Climate Walk - Monday 2 August at 1pm

  • Discuss causes and impacts of climate change and some possible strategies for transitioning to a more sustainable future while taking a gentle walk from the Maryborough Community House to Lake Victoria and return.

     

    Dunolly Neighbourhood Centre Native Vegetation Walk - Wednesday 11 August at 1pm

  • Learn about the richness and variety in Dunolly’s geography, native plants and fauna from local naturalist, Murray Hall.

     

    Mill House Industrial History Walk - Monday 16 August at 10am

  • Take a walk around some of Maryborough's iconic industrial architecture with local expert, Adrian Masterman-Smith. Explore the architecture, built between 1880-1920, that supported Maryborough's development into a vibrant regional powerhouse.

     

    Maryborough Community House Roscholler Park Walk - Saturday 21 August at 1pm

  • Join us for an informative session learning about the secret bush treasure that is Roscholler Park. Local expert, David Leviston, will point out the diverse and important species that have been preserved in this quiet Box Ironbark retreat.

     

    Mill House Local History Walk -  Monday 23 August at 10am

  • After leading our most popular walk from the first Winter Warmer Walks series Barb Nielsen, president of the Maryborough Midlands Historical Society will take us around some of our finest and most historic buildings and sites.

     

    Dunolly Neigbourhood Centre Historic Precinct Walk -  Wednesday 25 August at 1pm

  • Come with us on easy walk and hear the stories around some of Dunolly’s most interesting and unique historic buildings with secretary/treasurer of the ‘Dunolly Historic Precinct’, Kath Ryan.
