Life is getting difficult for everyone at the moment in our Shire but there is always something we can do to make life a little easier.

Here's a couple of things that spring to mind:

  • Support your local businesses. Many will be under pressure and may be struggling to survive, if you do one thing, shop local, buy local, buy from a small business.

  • Check in on other people and friends, particularly the elderly and vulnerable.

  • Don’t panic buy as others more needy may miss out. Why not share some of your items with others who can’t get out?

  • Say ‘thank you’ to supermarket staff they are doing their best.

  • And don’t forget to wash your hands often!

Life is difficult for everyone at the moment and there are lots of people who are really not helping. So ask “what can I do to make things a little easier for someone else”?

At Council, we are taking steps every day to try and limit the spread of COVID-19.

Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of the community and our staff and volunteers.

We have modified a number of our services including Council’s Customer Service Centre, Maryborough Regional Library, Central Goldfields Art Gallery, the Youth Hub and the Pound (open by appointment only).

These services can still be access by the public via phone and email. Contact details are available at

Also, we are discouraging members of the community to come along to tonight’s Ordinary Council Meeting at the Community Hub to try and ensure the health and safety of our residents.

Instead, we will be streaming the meeting live on Facebook from 6pm and there will also be an audio recording available later in the week at

Council’s website and social media channels will be updated regularly but for the latest, and most accurate, health advice please visit the Department of Health and Human Service website at
