I had the pleasure of visiting Maryborough District Health Service’s Centre of Inspired Learning last week to celebrate the first group of students who are about to undertake their Diploma of Nursing.

This is such a great local initiative because it means that MDHS can deliver local training for local people who can potentially stay here and pursue a potential career.

It will also attract nursing students from beyond our borders to move, study and work here in Maryborough.

In other news, we are currently updating our 2019 Leisure Services Guide and would love for as many community groups as possible to be included or to update their contact details.

There are many community groups and organisations in our Shire and many of these groups are integral to local towns and townships.

The Leisure Services Guide is a great way to let the wider community know who you are and what you do.

Included in the guide is everything from art and craft groups, churches, charities, and service clubs to schools and sport and recreation groups.

If you are part of a community group or organisation and would like to be included in the upcoming Leisure Guide or you’d like to update your contact details, email our Community Recreation Officer at or call 5461 0610.

Closing date for submissions is Monday 1 April, 2019.
