Have Your Say
Published on 01 January 2019
Much like 2018, 2019 will come with its challenges but somewhere in the next 365 days there will also be success, accomplishment and achievements.
Challenges are a natural part of life and we must find ways to overcome them. It is when we overcome these challenges that we get to enjoy our achievements.
New Year’s resolutions are a great way of setting personal goals but all too often challenges get in our way and we give up on our resolutions.
How we overcome challenges says a lot about ourselves and our personality. How do you overcome a challenge before you? You can give up and say ‘it’s too hard’ or you can be persistent and keep trying different ways until you achieve your goals.
It is often said that addressing challenges is character building, and while this is commonly said tongue-in-cheek, it is very true.
Attempting to overcome a challenge develops perseverance and perseverance creates strength, not as in physical strength but an inner strength.
This inner strength fuels our determination and this determination fuels and drives us to accomplish what we’ve set out to achieve.
I hope 2019 is ‘your year’ but it will only be yours if you work hard to achieve your goals.
Through our perseverance, inner strength and determination, we can make our community a better place to live and work.
The next time you’re presented with a challenge, don’t put it in the ‘too hard’ basket but persevere and accomplish your goals.
