Central Goldfields Art Gallery has selected 18 of the highest standard contemporary art quilters from across Australia for its upcoming Golden Textures Biennial Art Quilt Exhibition.

The quilts will be on display at the Central Goldfields Art Gallery from 23 February to 31 March 2019.

The exhibition will be opened at 2pm on Saturday 23 February 2019 by Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey and everyone is welcome to attend.

Curated by international award-winning textile artist and Maryborough resident, Jenny Bacon, the exhibition has an acquisitive prize of $3,000 on offer.  The prize-winning quilt becomes part of the Gallery’s permanent collection.

This is the fourth Golden Textures Art Quilt Exhibition and Chief Administrator Noel Harvey says the exhibition will surprise Art Gallery visitors.

“The quilts on display in this exhibition are not what people will think of as a traditional quilt.

“This display is truly special and is our most colourful of all the quilt exhibitions.

"Each of the three winners of past acquisitive prizes have supplied another work of theirs, so we can see the progress and mastery of their chosen art and what they have achieved.”

Groups are welcome to the exhibition, and where possible, Jenny Bacon will provide groups with a guided tour.
