Central Goldfields Shire Council has been successful in receiving $39,900 under the Federal Government’s Driver Reviver Site Upgrades Program.

The funding will go towards two trailer-mounted electronic variable message boards to be used at the Shire’s Driver Reviver sites at Coronation Park, Park Road, Maryborough and 51 Broadway, Dunolly, which are operated by the respective local SES units.

The Driver Reviver sites are operational during long weekends and offer drivers a chance to take a break from travelling and have a cup of coffee or tea.

Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said the new signage will help advise drivers of upcoming rest spots.

“The two trailer-mounted electronic variable message boards will help highlight our local Driver Reviver sites in Dunolly and Maryborough to encourage drivers to pull over and take a break.

“Drivers are recommended to take regular breaks during long trips so we hope these signs will make our Driver Reviver sites even more popular.”
