The Maryborough Energy Breakthrough is set to be back bigger and better next year with 17 November to 21 November locked in for the annual event.

Category entry dates are:

  • HPV A (Primary) – Tuesday 16 March 2021
  • HPV Secondary and EEV – Wednesday 17 March 2021
  • Pushcarts, Tryathlon and Innovations – Thursday 18 March 2021

Australia’s largest STEM event was cancelled this year due to COVID-19 but the Energy Breakthrough Committee already has plans for 2021 well underway.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor said the Energy Breakthrough was the Shire’s largest and most important tourism event.

“The Energy Breakthrough brings approximately 23,000 visitors to our Shire and injects close to $5 million to our economy,” he said.

“This annual event is always highly anticipated and we look forward to welcoming back previous participants, teams and schools as well as those who may be new to Energy Breakthrough.”

Energy Breakthrough Committee chairperson and Flynn Ward Cr Liesbeth Long said she is confident next year’s event will be one of the best yet.

“Our sponsors and schools are ready to go and we recently received $1.5 million from the State Government’s Regional Investment Fund, which will significantly boost the experience for all our students, teams and schools,” she said.

Partner sponsors include Transurban, La Trobe University and Regional Roads Victoria.
