Central Goldfields Shire Council, in partnership with Healthy Heart of Victoria and Sports Focus, is hosting Dine Out Goldfields Active Dunolly Community Night next week.

The free event will be held at Gordon Gardens, Market Street, Dunolly on Friday 26 March from 5pm to 8pm.

It is open to people of all ages and abilities who want to try their hand at a new physical activity. Activities include:

  • Basketball
  • Mini tennis
  • Exercise equipment classes

Food trucks and pop up stalls will also be available and those interested in attending are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and chairs.

The event will coincide with This Girl Can Week 2021, an initiative of VicHealth, which aims to inspire women to get active – however, wherever and whenever they choose, without being judged.

Central Goldfields Shire Flynn Ward Cr Liesbeth Long encouraged community members to head along and take advantage of the recent upgrades in Gordon Gardens.

“I urge all residents to head to Gordon Gardens next Friday night for a great evening of fun activities and to get out and get active,” she said.

We have had many recent additions to Gordon Gardens including a new basketball court, tennis court, a pump track and outdoor fitness equipment complete with shade sail. These $140,000 upgrades have been made possible thanks to the State Government’s Healthy Heart of Victoria initiative.”

Sport Focus’ Project Coordinator Lauren Barone encouraged residents to attend the event.

“Supported by local clubs and physical activity providers, fun activities will be happening to encourage the community to get active and use the new facilities,” she said.
