Central Goldfields Shire Maryborough Ward Councillor Grace La Vella has been reappointed to the Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA) Board for a three-year period.

The Board is the governing body of the VLGA and sets long term strategy and policy for the organisation.

Cr La Vella was elected to the Board last week after being co-opted to the VLGA Board on 1 January 2021 following a resignation.

Central Goldfields Shire CEO Lucy Roffey congratulated Cr La Vella on her re-appointment.

“The VLGA is a peak body for local government and its role is to inform and influence policymakers and stakeholders to determine the priorities for the local government sector.

“It is also to support councils, councillors and communities in good governance – to have Cr La Vella in such a role where she can advocate for rural councils is a great outcome.”

Cr La Vella said she was thrilled to be re-appointed and looks ahead to her term on the Board.

“I look forward to getting back to working with a team of passionate, pro-active Board members and offer a sincere thankyou to Councillors of Victoria for their faith and trust in me in order to cast their positive vote.”
