At a Meeting of Council last night (26/05), Central Goldfields Shire Council endorsed the eight Your Community 2030 Community Plans for the townships of Maryborough, Bealiba, Carisbrook, Dunolly, Talbot, Majorca, Bet Bet and Timor.

Council has been working with residents to develop 10 year community plans since October last year – following funding for the project through the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.

1,035 community members contributed to the project via listening posts, a survey, drop-in sessions, roving interviews, focus groups, children's drawing activities and community workshops.

Central Goldfields Shire Council Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said it had been wonderful to see so many community members get involved in this community planning project.

“Thank you to the 1,035 community members that shared their feedback during the community planning stage of the project. It was wonderful to our local community step up, take ownership and provide input into a project that will help shape their township and surrounding district.

“One of the most rewarding parts of the project has certainly been seeing our local communities empowered to self-determine their priorities, make decisions and act on what is important to them, now and into the future.

“We will now embed these community plans and priorities to strengthen our planning, resourcing, partnerships and advocacy works over the next decade. We look forward to seeing the community drive these plans– with Council’s ongoing commitment to support this work - moving forward.”
