The Central Goldfields Shire Draft Integrated Transport Strategy is now available for the community to view and provide feedback.

The Draft Strategy was developed in partnership with the community and the Department of Transport to identify how Council can address access and transport needs across the municipality.

The Draft Strategy identifies a range of issues and opportunities with different modes of transport and how they cater for the variety of trip demands in the community.

It will also recognise the current ways people living in and travelling to our municipality access key destinations and how transport options could be improved.

More than 50 local residents provided input into the document as part of a community feedback period during May this year.

During the feedback phase, residents provided input via surveys, and we received photos and drawings from Maryborough Education Centre students, drawings from children at the Goldfields Family Centre and responses from L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program participants.

Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said the Draft Strategy explores the current transport networks and how they can be improved.

“The Draft Integrated Transport Strategy will be an important strategic document for us as it identifies issues and opportunities within our transport networks including active, public, private and community transport.

“If you are interested in transport and how it can be improved, head to www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay to read the Draft Strategy and to provide feedback.”

Feedback is required by 21 August by 5pm and can be provided via:

  • Phone: 5461 0610 to speak with the strategic planner
  • Mail: ITS, 22 Nolan Street Maryborough VIC 3465
