At a Meeting of Council last night, Central Goldfields Shire Council endorsed the Draft Long-Term Financial Plan 2021-22 to 2030-31 for community feedback.

Feedback is invited until 5pm, Wednesday 13 October with the Draft Plan available to view online at www.engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/financialplan

The Long-Term Financial Plan sets out how the actions of the Central Goldfields Shire Council Plan 2021-2025 will be funded to achieve the Central Goldfields Shire Community Vision.

Feedback received as part of the Shaping Central Goldfields project has been used to inform the development of the Draft Plan.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor said the development of the Long-Term financial plan was a requirement of the Local Government Act 2020.

“Many community members may not realise that Council delivers around 40 services to the community and maintains $309 million of community assets which includes things like roads, footpaths, recreation spaces and buildings.

“Also underway is one of the biggest capital works program this Council has ever seen.

“With all of this in mind, Council’s priority in developing this plan was to ensure we can operate in a financially responsible and sustainable way for the next ten years.

“We also need to plan for change and challenges including asset renewal and maintenance of our precious heritage assets, as well as gear up for real growth in population and economic activity.

“We need to do this within a rates cap of 1.5% in line with the Victorian Government’s Fair Go Rates System.

“Council believes this Plan achieves this in a way that benefits the entire community, but we want to know what you think. I encourage you to read the Draft Plan and provide us with your comments."
