Residents are invited to attend the Central Goldfields Shire official Australia Day celebration on Sunday 26 January at our free, family friendly event.
A free breakfast and children’s activities will commence at 8.30am with official proceedings to follow at 9.15am.
As part of the event, the Central Goldfields Shire Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Award of the Year will be named and 13 new Australian citizens welcomed.
The celebrations will feature entertainment from the recently formed Maryborough choir, Serendipity Singers.
Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said it was a wonderful opportunity for the Central Goldfields Shire community to come together to celebrate our great nation.
“Join us as we welcome 13 new Australian Citizens and announce our Australia Day Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Award of the Year awards,” he said.
“We’ll also be presenting medallions to all babies born in the Shire during 2019 and children starting kindergarten in 2020 will be presented with a book.”
