Consideration of a proposed renewable energy facility at Carisbrook was deferred at Tuesday night’s (18/12) Ordinary Meeting of Council.

Council noted that an additional planning permit for a telecommunications facility had been received, which is associated with the renewable energy facility (90mw solar farm).

The two related applications are to be considered by Council when both applications can be considered concurrently.

Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said the delay is the logical step to take.

“I am disappointed this application was not made with the original solar farm proposal and this means ongoing uncertainty for the local community, but It makes the most sense for us, as a Council, to consider these two closely related planning permits at the same time”.

“We will do all that we can to consider these applications promptly and as soon as the additional planning permit for the telecommunications facility is ready to be presented at a Council Meeting, a decision will be reached on both matters.”
