NOMINATIONS OPEN: Australia Day 2024

The National Australia Day Council together with the State and Territory Australia Day Councils and Committees administer Australia Day Awards on a state and national level.  

The Central Goldfields Shire Council administers awards on a local level on behalf of the National Australia Day Council.

Each year Council presents Australia Day Awards to individuals and groups within the Shire. 

The Central Goldfields Shire Australia Day Awards celebrate the achievements and contributions made by outstanding members and groups in our community that inspire us through their efforts and make us proud to live in the Central Goldfields Shire.

Award categories

• Citizen of the Year
• Young Citizen of the Year
• Community Event or Project of the Year

Award nominations:

Nominations for 2024 Australia Day Awards will open on Friday 15 September and close 12 midnight on Sunday 29 October 2023

Selection Process

Following the close of nominations, the Australia Day Awards Selection Panel will score nominations based on the Selection Criteria.

In the event that no nominations are received in any of the categories, the Australia Day Awards Selection Panel reserves the right to grant the award to a group, project/event or citizen of its choice. 

 Award Ceremony

Award recipients are announced on 26 January 2024. All nominees and nominators will be invited to attend the award announcements at 9.15am at Station Domain, Maryborough.
