It’s almost here! This weekend on Saturday 28th January, the Maryborough Pride Festival kicks off. This will be a day of fun and entertainment but importantly, the day will be a celebration of support and connection with our LGBTQIA+ community.

There are lots of festivals and celebrations going on in Victoria now due to the Midsumma queer arts and cultural festival and it’s wonderful that we are finally able to have our very rainbow festivities here in Maryborough. Yes, it may be different to some of our community, but I urge you to come along and enjoy the day, I mean, who doesn’t love a good drag queen? We will have two!

As stated previously, this is an event for the whole community, and I hope to see a lot of people there.

This festival is not just about fun though, there will be presenters and speakers with valuable and important information. We will have on stage conversations with organisations like Headspace, Trans and Gender Diverse Bendigo and our own Youth Council.

There has been a lot of work by many people to make this happen, Pride Goldfields, Pride Crew and of course Mill House Neighbourhood House, where the event is being held.

The support from locals and businesses has been amazing. We are lucky to have such a great community to get behind this event. I’d also like to give a huge thank you to the Central Goldfields Shire for all there help and support.

There will be a community bus which can assist people who have difficulty getting to or from the event. To book, please contact Mill House on (03) 5461 3185.
