David Mann AM and Doug Christie have been announced as Central Goldfields Shire’s 2019 Australia Day Ambassadors.

David Mann has been announced as the 2019 Australia Day Ambassador for Carisbrook.  David is best known for his 3AW Mann About Town show and has a decorated career in radio, having held various roles at the radio station for over four decades.

In 2006, David received an Order of Australia Medal in 2006 for service to the community through a range of police, nursing, heritage and emergency services organisations.

Doug Christie is our 2019 Australia Day Ambassador for Dunolly. Doug is an experienced broadcaster, event producer and marketer who has held senior marketing roles with publicly-listed companies.

As part of his consultancy, Doug is an advisor to many mainstream companies on marketing, communications and business strategy.

The benefits of having an Australia Day Ambassador at local Australia Day celebrations include:

  • The opportunity for your local community to meet and listen to Australians who have distinguished themselves by their contribution to their country
  • They are a drawcard for regional celebrations
  • The chance to hear stories of the Ambassador's achievements which illustrate the many opportunities Australia offers
  • The opportunity to reinforce the diversity of achievers in Australia.

Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said it was wonderful to have David and Doug – two very well-known and highly esteemed identities - announced as Australia Day ambassadors for our Shire.

“I’m sure the Dunolly and Carisbrook look forward to welcoming them to their communities in January and to hearing their Australia Day messages.”
