Greetings from Vietnam

I am sitting in the middle of the old town of HoiAn, Vietnam, enjoying a cold drink. Reflecting on life and what this time of year means. Reflecting on the value of friends and family and living in a caring and supportive community.

Christmas and New Year herald new beginnings, a time of festivities, joy, giving and receiving gifts, friendship and companionship. For some people it can be a very lonely time. We all need friendship and companionship. I guess what I am trying to say is, don’t be lonely. Be brave. Be super brave. Reach out and find opportunities to meet with people. Lots of social events are being advertised on Facebook and in the local newspaper. I would like to encourage you to find out what’s on offer and go to these events. Find community groups that share your interests and passion and get involved.

We are so fortunate, living in a unique community with amazing people. Many people move here and stay because they feel welcomed and embraced by the wider community.

I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a very happy and prosperous New Year, packed with new adventures and above all, new friendships and new beginnings.

Thank you for your support these past two years.  I am looking forward to many more community conversations. Please remember, I am only a phone call away, always keen to meet for a coffee.

The dates for the Carisbrook Community Conversations for 2023 are as follows:

  • 1 March 2023
  • 3 May 2023
  • 2 August 2023
  • 4 October 2022

And will be held at the Carisbrook Fire Station in Green Street. Thank you to the CFA for making this facility available for this purpose.
