Overview

Council understands that members of our community may experience financial hardship from time to time.  This may be short or long term financial hardship. 

Council offers a range of ways to pay your debts, please speak with our Customer Service team who will outline options for you.

Please note that while the previous specific COVID-19 Financial Hardship policy has now expired, the effects of COVID-19 is still an accepted reason to apply for hardship.

Ratepayers experiencing financial hardship

        

  • Suspension of all current debt recovery action to 31 March, 2021
  • Updated COVID-19 Financial Hardship Policy - effective 1 October, 2020
  • Extension of rate payments to 31 December, 2020 on request, with no interest - Financial hardship application required 
  • Waived interest on overdue rates and waste charges extended to 31 March, 2021
  • For persons suffering financial hardship, waived pet registration fees

 

Business support

 

  • Updated COVID-19 Financial Hardship Policy will also apply to businesses
  • Waiver of 2021 registration fees for food, accommodation, beauty, hair dressing salons and various permits.
  • Payment of local suppliers weekly to improve business cash flow continues
  • Waived rent for businesses occupying Council buildings and facilities extended to 31 March, 2021
  • Ongoing dedicated business contact officer within Council
  • Ongoing dedicated COVID-19 business support page on Council's website www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/covid-19
  • Ongoing access to Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry support in partnership with Committee for Maryborough

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Residents can pay their rates and animal registrations online via the following methods:

  • Australia Post Billpay: The Billpay code and reference number are located under the 'How to Pay Your Account' information on the front of your rate or animal registration notice next to the Billpay logo. 
  • By phone: Via Australia Post Billpay – 13 18 16 BPay or via credit card by contacting the Customer Service Centre 
  • By mail: Cheque or money order can be made payable to 'Central Goldfields Shire Council' and mailed to Central Goldfields Shire Council, PO Box 194, Maryborough VIC 3465 
  • BPay/BPay View: Payment can be made via BPay / BPay View and can be done via phone or internet banking. The biller code and reference number are located under the 'How to Pay Your Account' information on the front of your rate or animal registration notice next to the BPay logo.
