Central Goldfields Shire Recreation and Open Space Strategy
In 2019 Central Goldfields Shire Council will develop a new ten-year Recreation & Open Space Strategy to guide the development of sport and active recreation opportunities for the local community into the future.
The Strategy will be made possible with $30,000 in funding from the State Government as part of the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund 2019 - 2020 and $45,000 as part of Council's 2018-2019 Council Budget.
Central Goldfields Shire Walking and Cycling Strategy
The 2017 – 2026 Central Goldfields Shire Walking and Cycling Strategy(PDF, 3MB) provides a roadmap for increased cycling and walking opportunities within the municipality in the future.
The Central Goldfields Shire is perfectly placed to provide all the walking and cycling opportunities you could desire.
With the development of the Cycle Central Goldfields and Dunolly Cycle Maps, as well as the newly developed Ballarat - Maryborough Heritage Trail recreational cycling opportunities abound.
If walking is more your favoured form of physical activity there is also the Lake Victoria Walking Trail and Goldfields Reservoir Walking Trail, as well as ample opportunities through the neighbouring state parks.
